Winter is here, and this season is suitable for warm desserts. My favorite desserts are pumpkin latte and pumpkin pie. I always feel that the finished products bought from the store are too light, so I often make them at home. After many successes, today I will share my homemade method with you.
Step 1: We need to make pumpkin spice first

Pumpkin spice can be used to bake desserts such as pumpkin pie, cookies, and cakes, or added to coffee, hot chocolate, or oatmeal to add a warm autumn flavor to food and drinks.
According to personal taste, you can adjust the proportion of each spice in the recipe.
Step 2: Make pumpkin pie
Pumpkin pie is a delicious snack made with pumpkin as the main ingredient. It has a golden and crispy outer skin and a soft, sweet inner skin. In different regions, the method and flavor of pumpkin pie vary. The following is a common method of making pumpkin pie, which is suitable for home-made.
- Required materials
- Pumpkin – 300g (peeled and cut into pieces)
- Glutinous rice flour – 200g
- White sugar – 30g (can be increased or decreased according to personal taste)
- Cooking oil – appropriate amount (for pancakes)
- Red bean paste or sesame filling (optional) – appropriate amount
Production steps
Prepare pumpkin puree:
Peel the pumpkin, cut it into pieces, and steam it in a steamer (about 15 minutes) until the pumpkin is soft.
Use a fork or blender to mash the steamed pumpkin into pumpkin puree.
Mix the dough:
Add sugar to the pumpkin puree and mix well, then gradually add glutinous rice flour and knead it into a soft dough. Depending on the moisture content of the pumpkin puree, you can increase or decrease the amount of glutinous rice flour appropriately. The dough should be moderately soft and not sticky.
Stuffing (optional):
If you want to make pumpkin cakes with fillings, you can divide the dough into small portions, flatten it, wrap it with an appropriate amount of red bean paste or sesame filling, and then gently press it into a cake shape.
If you don’t want to stuff it, you can directly divide the dough into small portions and press it into round cakes.
Fry pumpkin cakes:
Pour a small amount of cooking oil into the pan, heat it, put the prepared pumpkin cakes into the pan, and fry them on low heat until both sides are golden brown. Pay attention to the heat, don’t use too high a temperature, so as not to burn the outer skin but not cook the inside.
If you like a crispier texture, you can add a little more oil and fry until the skin is crispy.
Serve:
Take out the fried pumpkin cake, put it on oil-absorbing paper to absorb the excess oil, and then enjoy. You can sprinkle some powdered sugar or sesame seeds to add flavor.
Tips
Choosing pumpkins: It is recommended to choose pumpkins with bright colors and delicate flesh, so that the pumpkin pie tastes better and the color is more attractive.
Control the heat: Use a low heat when frying, so that the pumpkin pie can be heated slowly and cooked more evenly.
Pumpkin pie is sweet and soft, and it is easy to make. It is a delicious snack in autumn and winter. You can adjust it according to your personal taste, such as adding more sugar, different fillings, or baking instead of frying.
